Gay Thursday: Civil Unions for Everyone!

Image
These two gentlemen may not be getting married, but they are having a very civil union. It's all well and good that there is some recent fervor for same gender matrimony. It may very well be another set up for this election cycle. It keeps getting rerun until somebody gets it right. What's right is this that there should only be civil unions sanctioned by the state across the board. The state of matrimony is sacramental and only churches should anoint it. At any rate as long as the State sanctions matrimony there should be equal rights and privileges for all. SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - A majority of registered Californian voters oppose changing the constitution of the most populous U.S. state to bar gays from marrying, according to poll released on Wednesday. The Field Poll survey found 51 percent against approving a possible November ballot measure to prohibit gay marriage, with 43 percent in favor. A slightly differently worded question on the same issue found 54 percent oppos

As many as 15,000 gays died in the Nazi’s concentration camps during Hitler’s reign. Tuesday Talent: Giovanni and/or Romeo Roselli

Image
This feature in both of its versions exists to point someone out who has something to offer. A great deal of the time it has a lot to do with someone who is capable of revitalizing one’s fantasy life. There have also been many who are not only easy on the eyes but are actually talented. You can go back and opine for yourself who they are. There have also been more than a few who have good hearts. Sometimes, like this one, one comes up doing a search and catches your eye. Roselli may be one of those professional wrestlers who is looking to cross over into cinema work. There have been more who have a modicum of success than one might think. Wrestling requires creating a persona to go along with one’s style. Hence, Rosselli’s two first names: Giovanni and Romeo, the second of which is the persona that once was part of the tag team “The Heartthrobs.” These athletic entertainers necessarily have to act and quite often follow through on story lines. In recent memory, John Cena and quite nota

Death is a fact of life and it comes to everyone. War brings death but it is not inevitable. Today's remembrance is for the fallen. While there have been such things as righteous wars of self-defense there is no such thing as a good war. There can be on the other hand a peaceful death and it is the best anyone can hope for. It's been said that fear of death is tantamount to fear of living and living necessitates being surrounded by loving friends and relatives. The sadness of those left behind has no equal and it forever changes their lives. A creative life full of dear people enables final peace for the departed and in some way eventually for the intimates within that life. Grieving is that process that helps the living to go on after the departure of a loved one even without any revelation as to the meaning of life. It is part of embracing what is. Death by war necessitates fear and turmoil. Support of the soldiers means that we want them to come home to their loving friends

Sunday Songs: Gratitude to the Gods, Musical and Otherwise

Image
Although there is a serious raison d’etre for this three day weekend, it is the unofficial commencement of summer and for that reason are posted a trio of songs from the uniquely talented Billy Stewart who passed away just two months shy of his thirty-third birthday, placing him in a pantheon of young rock'n'roll geniuses who left the world much too soon. Edited From Soul-Patrol.com: In December 1964, Billy recorded and released a masterpiece titled, "I Do Love You." The song hit both the R&B and Pop charts and stayed on the charts for 21 weeks. The next release was "Sitting In The Park." It hit Top Ten R&B and Top Twenty pop. Billy was in popular demand. His extensive touring made it impossible for him to get back in the studio to record, because, as Billy put it, touring paid more of the bills than receiving record royalties. Finally, in the summer of 1966, Billy wanted to try something new and different. Trying to reach more into the pop stream, B

Friday's Main Event I: From A Fan

(Alicia Minshew and fans) “Loving Out Loud” Bright sunshine and blue skies warmed the sidewalk on the west side of Columbus Avenue and 84th Street in Upper Manhattan. Late afternoon brought a line of people to the entrance of Prohibition , a high-end bar and restaurant that is reminiscent of the 1920s and ’30s fused with a modern edge. This comfortable, cozy eatery once again served as the venue for the 3rd annual POZ kickoff to AIDS Walk New York held on May 14th. POZ is “the premier lifestyle, treatment and advocacy magazine for people living with—and those affected by—HIV and AIDS,” explained Giovanni Vitacolonna via e-mail. Vitacolonna is the circulation supervisor of POZ magazine and coordinator of the event. Daytime actors from One Life to Live , As the World Turns , Guiding Light and All My Children , along with other local celebrities like Jack Mackenroth of Project Runway came out to support the cause. A total of $7,500 from that evening went toward the POZ team’s fund-r
