Harlem native and legendary saxophonist Bill Saxton has launched his own jazz parlor - "Bill's Place" located at 148 West 133rd Street, between Lenox and Seventh Avenues. Styled after the speakeasies and jazz joints of 1920s and '30s Harlem, Bill Saxton serves up real jazz and tells the story of the history of the original "Swing Street". Billie Holiday, Willie "The Lion" Smith, and Mae West, Langston Hughes, and "Moms" Mabley, who all strolled, sang, and played their ways down W133rd, and yes - even #148, are all characters in this amazing chapter in Harlem history. Mr. Saxton is so proud to be one of those characters, doing his part to perpetuate the culture and spirit of the original "Swing Street" with live jazz every Friday night. The Bill Saxton Quartet performs two sets every Friday night at 10PM and 12AM. Admission is $15. Between sets, ming...
