The Day The Music Died

Thirty-one years ago today, John Lennon left us. That year marked the end of more than one Era and it may also be mark the official "aging" of many baby boomers. Sharing it with young Italians in English Class as a teacher in Tuscany making attempts to explain what the decade of the 60s was all about and what the Beatles meant brought the finality of it all home. Reagan had just been elected back in the USA and it was also the twentieth anniversary of JFK's election. The end of an era indeed.
