The Wednesday Word on Marriage

Image
OK, we're being nostalgic lately on this web log and one of the first posts five years ago was on same sex marriage. Here it is again on the last day of Pride Month '10. It's still relevant, of course. Word up on the marriage thing ... A honeymoon in Sunny Spain one of Holy Mother Church’s dearest daughters would do the hearts good of many a vibrant homosexual not to mention having the marriage sanctioned there. The United States’ neighbour to its North and more than one of its neighbours across the ocean seem bent on affording the rights to same sex couples that are afforded to those of mixed marriages. Perhaps the gods – or God as the case may be -- do smile on the alternative brethren from time to time. That being said and accepted, let it also be said that perhaps the Federal Government of any nation has no business sanctifying anybody’s marriage. Yes, if mixed marriages are to be sanctified by a civil government then all marriages should of necessity be sanctified b

Tuesday's Blast from the Past: Alec Musser's De-briefing

Image
Although BethAnn Bonner didn't actually win the Soap Star competition on SoapNet she is actually their most successful contestant. Alec Musser actually won the second season[?] and got a contract on All My Children . We like him around here. We de-briefed him more than once . We wonder where he is? Anyway this was a post when the Tuesday Feature was christened the Tuesday De-Briefing. Hey, if you have underwear model on your resume' and you look like Alec There is one thing that contemporary daytime drama still gets right and that is maintaining their quotient of fetching young men. For our money, one of the fetchingest is Alec Musser, who has been making the effort for years and it has had some mighty fruition. Pookie, this WebLOg's high tech expert and ever vigilant researcher, discovered some photos from Mr. Musser's past. In honour of Pookie's endeavours and Mr Musser's persistently flawless physique, hereby is initiated a new Weekly feature -- The Tuesday

Walk Proud, Dear Hearts!

Image
While there is a lot to be said about Kelly Bensimon's participation in this year's parade, for example, she has nothing to do with Gay Pride nor does she have anything to do with AIDS activism -- so, why is she on the GMHC float? Nevertheless, to the rest of you: Walk proud, brothers and sisters. We belong here.

Gay Pride, Gregory Nalbone, Bill Costa and the staff of Column of Life

Image
One year on this weekend the photo for the Saturday Beefcake feature came from late gay photographer Bill Costa who lived in New York City and whose photographic art used black and white format often picturing young men who were not necessarily professional models. On New York's Gay Pride Weekend here again is published that post but with photography from the very good and very kind Bill Costa. There is usually much activity in the CoL offices on Saturday, most of it has to do with the image that is to be stolen from the internet. Today the discussion around that was minimal because a stock image from the late photographer, Bill Costa's files was used. It was the choice of a recipe that caused most problems. Ms. Bernice kept going on about pulled pork and we weren't sure if she was speaking about a recipe. Anyway, Bernice would not sit still because she's getting ready to go a Gay Pride barbecue in Manhattan thinking that Charles Busch & Jason Priestly were going to

Brussels sprouts are a cultivar of the same species that includes cabbage, collard greens, broccoli, kale, and kohlrabi; they are cruciferous. They contain good amounts of vitamin A, vitamin C, folic acid and dietary fibre. Moreover, they are believed to protect against colon cancer, due to their containing sinigrin.[4] Although they contain compounds such as goitrin that can act as goitrogens and interfere with thyroid hormone production, realistic amounts in the diet do not seem to have any effect on the function of the thyroid gland in humans The most common method of preparing Brussels sprouts for cooking begins with removal of the buds from the stalk. Any surplus stem is cut away, and the surface leaves that are loosened by this cutting are peeled and discarded. Cooking methods include boiling, steaming and roasting. To ensure even cooking throughout, buds of a similar size are usually chosen. Some cooks will cut a cross in center of the stem to aid the penetration Shaved Brussels

Gay Thursday: James Franco on General Hospital

Image
from Soaps In Depth : When James Franco brings twisted artist Franco back this summer, his real-life mother will join him! As previously reported, the Milk star returns to GH on Wednesday, June 30, and now a rep for the soap confirms that Betsy Franco will begin a short-term role on Friday, July 2, when Spinelli tracks down the eccentric, murder-obsessed artist's mom. But before James Franco returns to GH next week, the actor will make his first appearance on The View earlier that day, airing at 11 a.m. EST on ABC. In related news, GH has tapped Bruce Davison to play the short-term role of Wilhelm Van Schlagel, Franco's art dealer. The Oscar nominee will make his three-episode cameo appearance beginning in early July. This item rates a Gay Thursday, first off because it's James Franco (hello!?) news, but it is also Bruce Davison news. Davison was nominated for his role in Longtime Companion .

The Wednesday Word: David and Jonathan for Pride Week

Image
The word from GayChristian 101: Scripture speaks in glowing terms of Jonathan and David’s loving intimacy, exchanging clothing, embracing, weeping together, hugging and kissing each other. Gays point out that the same Hebrew words used to describe Jonathan and David’s relationship also describe intimate opposite sex relationships. Jonathan loved David and so they consistently make time alone together and when alone, affirm their love for each other. Each time they reaffirm their covenant, love for each other is the justification given in scripture. Jonathan goes against his father, his family, his opportunity to be Israel’s King, in favor of supporting David. The covenant made between the two men strengthens a romantic rather than political or platonic interpretation of their relationship. At their first meeting, Jonathan strips himself before the youth, handing him his clothing, remaining naked before him. When they first make their covenant, not long after their first meeting, the re
