Hasta Siempre

There were good things to talk about except all the joy went out of the day when daylight began. The sadness is enhanced in that this was done in the name of religion. There is not much more to add that there are those who live by the religious sword and actually turn it on themselves. There is not much difference between God and the Devil in this case. If the God one believes in encourages and desires the death of innocent people then that evil perpetrated is on par with the evil associated with Satan. Disbelief reigns at the end of the day.

What makes it even sadder is that political opportunists all over the world will use this to further their own agendas.

Those who survive will go on and will very quickly find enjoyment in daily living yet life has forever changed.

While there are people still missing in the London tragedy and there are people dying in Iraq every day, it is important to recall the words of a young recruit who spoke on NPR yesterday morning. It is important to honour the living.

( Thank You, Singers and Saints Blog ) Personnel: Abbey Lincoln (vocals); Jackie McLean (alto saxophone); Clark Terry (trumpet); Alain Jean-Marie (piano); Charlie Haden (bass); Billy Higgins (drums). "Have we been waiting for something like this since Billie, then Dinah passed on--i.e. groovy, in-the-tradition jazz singing that actually means something? Heir apparent Betty Carter is on an ego trip, Cassandra Wilson is too arty... and so on. Abbey Lincoln's trip is something else again (perhaps Parisian) as she poignantly introduces "How High The Moon" in broken French and triumphantly ends the set with Francis Lai's "Live For Life."
