I don’t want to give too much away, but as the series goes on you find out more of the rules of the marriage. While sex outside the marriage is permitted, certain emotions are not. For example, having a best friend outside of the marriage is not allowed; that’s threatening to the marriage because Cricket and Blake are best friends. They are such a power team and they are the best of friends, so anyone who comes in between that as a friend is more threatening than sex, interestingly enough. And Cricket also has her men on the side, but that doesn’t mean anything emotionally. That’s just sex and Blake knows about it.
